I wanted to try a new format for my blog posts—something a bit more personal and reflective.
Inspiration can come to you in many ways. As someone creative, I tend to find inspiration through various forms of art. While music might be the obvious choice, I often draw inspiration from films or even a particular mood. For instance, I have a song titled “Lost in the Dark.” It’s a softer piano ballad, and I knew I wanted a track like that for a specific project.
I remember watching the last season of Peaky Blinders and being inspired by a track Thom Yorke had done called “unmade.” It was initially made for the remake of Suspiria. The thing I liked about it was the dissonant mood and atmosphere achieved through a more reverb-drenched, distant vocal style with simple piano parts. That alone inspired me to sit down and create “In the Dark.” The track came together quickly, which is almost never the case for me when I write music. Usually, I have to sit and wrestle with ideas, write, and then go through a painful process of revisions.
Another reason I love to write music is that I find it very challenging. It's a way for me to push my limits and grow creatively.
Inspiration is everywhere if you know where to look. Sometimes, it comes from unexpected places and at unexpected times. For me, it’s about being open to these moments and letting them guide my creative process. Whether it’s a film, a piece of music, or simply a fleeting emotion, the key is to stay receptive and let the inspiration flow.
