Longboarding and writing music on the weekends.

This past weekend, I made progress on another track inspired by vocal layering. I wanted to feature my vocals leading into a track by itself. William Elliott Whitmore did something similar on his first album, where he performed an entire song with just his vocals and no musical backing. This technique is also common in film scoring, as Goblin demonstrated effectively in the Suspiria Theme. I’ve always enjoyed the creepy vibes they achieved.

I went through five versions before finding something that fit a catchy melody. I’m considering adding some acoustic guitar to enhance the folk lore vibe of the track. The chorus reminds me a bit of something from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Finding a sound I like has been a challenge over the past few weeks.

In other exciting news, I've been trying my hand at longboarding. Unfortunately, I managed to shock my ankles into pain, possibly from pushing too hard on my second time boarding by the riverside. Despite the pain, longboarding has been a great way for me to get outside more, which has been challenging post-pandemic. I'm very comfortable spending time alone, so this has been a positive change.
